The federal government just passed a massive bill that will require people on Medicaid Expansion to prove that they meet the Community Engagement Requirement every six months. You can read the specifics of the requirement in Section 71119 of the bill in this link.

Effectively, this is about proving that the person either works, volunteers, or is involved with an education program that covers about 80 hours per month. In our experience and the analyses of others like the Kaiser Family Foundation, the issue isn’t the actual community engagement requirement since most people on Medicaid Expansion are working. The issue is the bureaucracy involved in proving that the people meet the community engagement requirements. Think paper, stamps, phone calls waiting for customer service, etc.

NAMI Montana is asking Montanans to contact Governor Greg Gianforte and ask him to automate the majority of the Montana Medicaid Community Engagement Requirement through existing State of Montana databases.

Please take a moment to either call Governor Gianforte’s office or send a web message.

Thank you for your support in preventing Montanans from losing Medicaid access due to antiquated reporting processes.
